I teach computers to K-8 students. I love my job because I get to work with children and I get to play with computers! [1]
Something That I Believe
I believe that children are our hope for the future. They can and will make the world a better place!
Something That I Listen To
The Cowsills because I loved them when I was 11 years old and I still love them today! Speaking of today, did you know I'm the webmaster for The Cowsills? Really, I am!
Something That I Like To Eat
I love the BBQ Chopped Chicken Salad from Stonefire Grill and if you have that you have to have the breadsticks to go with it!
Some Place I Would Like To Be
I have always wanted to visit Australia and New Zealand and I would love to go back to Lake Louise in Canada. [2]
Something I Want To Be Known For
I would like to be known as someone who made a difference in someone's life - either as their mom or their teacher or their sister or their friend. That would be a good legacy to leave behind.
Something I Cannot Do Without
Other than my family, I'd have to say that I can't imagine doing without my computer or my camera! [3]
Something I Would Change
The immediate change I would like to see is a new computer lab at St. Martin's. It's amazing what we can do with our old outdated computers but I can't help but imagine what we could do if we had new computers!
Something I Am Known For
I am sure I am known for being the person to always have a camera! [4]
Something I Want To Know More About
I find that the older I get the more I want to know! Lately I'm fascinated with lighting and off camera flash. I love the effects you can get with that and would love to try my hand at it some day. [5]
Things I Will Do To Keep Myself Safe Online
I believe that the students of today need to learn how to use the Internet safely and to aid in that knowledge many of my students will be active participants in our wikis and blog. These are my expectations for participation:
Our Computer Lab Wikis and the Computer Lab Blog are extensions of the classroom and should be treated as such when posting or editing. Watch your spelling and grammar. Proofread your work! Remember our wikis and blog are public spaces and the world can see what you post so always do your best work.
Students will not include any information or pictures on our wikis or blog which will compromise their own safety or the safety of others.
No student will edit or delete the work of others without including a comment for page history explaining why they made the change. All edits should improve a page or they shouldn't be made.
Students will be respectful in their postings, comments and edits. You are adding to your Digital Footprint with everything you post on our wikis or blog. Remember to always put your best foot forward.
Students will protect their log-in information and passwords and will not share this information with others.
All copyrighted material must be properly cited or will be treated as plagiarism. Students should use their own words when posting or should quote their source appropriately. Students should never just copy and paste material.
No posting or edit will facilitate or promote illegal activity.
As to my rules for myself:
I will be aware of my Digital Footprint at all times and not post things that I would not want the world to know.
I will safeguard my banking and credit card information at all times.
I will be careful about clicking on links that I receive in emails and instead re-type the URL of the site I wish to visit to avoid phishing scams.
I will not post photos online that would compromise my reputation or safety or the reputation or safety of others.
I will strive to be a good example of what a Digital Citizen should be.
